Interstellar, 2023
Wool, monk’s cloth

 In January 2023 I dove into Interstellar, allowing myself to let go of the reins and see where the piece would take me. The inspiration was to create an intuitive yet random landscape using entirely leftover ends of wool yarn. Using the Oxford Punch Needle, the design slowly filled in, with my hand alternating between being dictated by what colours were available, or not available, and where it felt natural to go, becoming a kind of cosmic dance. A secondary narrative unfolds in the space in between the colours, the matter between the stars holding as much information, if not more, than the stars themselves.
