A soft space for feelings. For emotion. Calm. Sadness. Beauty. Discomfort.
I want to gently capture these things.
The Method:
All screen prints are made with hand cut stencil and silkscreen. I’m a fan of this method because I enjoy the limitations. I’m a fan of limitations. Limitations in both the design and the output, as each run will only give you about 50 prints before the stencil begins to dissolve and you wash it away and you will never ever print with that exact stencil again. It’s very exclusive. Like a club.
I should hire a bouncer.
I prefer to print on fabrics that make my brain happy as opposed to fabrics that don’t make my brain happy. Linen. Thrifted table clothes. Items made with care and items made to last.
I sew all prints on a grey domestic machine.
All rugs are made with the Oxford Punch Needle. I began punching in 2021 at a time when I felt my world crumble around me. The punch needle provided a safe and comforting refuge from the chaos.
The inherent slow beauty of the rug pulled me in. slow. slow. slow.
Natural Fibres. Hand dyed yarns. Torn pieces of old fabric. I feel very lucky.
Each punched piece is entirely it’s own creation. Every punch a brush stroke. The movement of the fibre creating it’s own unique universe. Each piece a romance I couldn’t duplicate if I tried.
I hope you enjoy the work,
